Maureen Bell has just joined Coventry Sports Foundation as the organisation’s health and fitness membership sales manager.
She will be based at the Centre AT7, in Bell Green Road, which is celebrating 16 of its members coming up to their tenth year of membership.
It is the perfect introduction for Bell, whose roll will include improving client retention as well as increasing membership numbers and promoting the corporate packages on offer, across all three of Coventry Sports Foundation-managed sites – The Alan Higgs Centre, in Allard Way and the Xcel Leisure Centre, in Canley, as well as Centre AT7.
Bell, 53, from Hinckley, hopes to use experience gained, through various sales and marketing roles in the hospitality industry, to help her in her new position.
She said: “I am really excited about my new role as it presents me with a new challenge and is slightly different from what I have done before.
“This feels like something I can really get my teeth into, it is a completely new position which has been created, and that is a challenge in itself.
“This job allows me to deal with the public, which is something that I have always done, and enjoyed previously.”
Yvonne Cooper, 50, from Walsgrave, personifies the loyalty inspired by the centre, having been a member at the site for over 16 years.
“I have probably been going a lot longer than most of the instructors!” she said.
“I visit the centre three or four times a week, sometimes with my sister-in-law.
“The thing that keeps me going is the range of classes and the instructors that are there, it is a fantastic place for socialising and making new friends. The social events held by the centre, especially the Christmas disco, are great.
“Visiting the gym can get boring and repetitive, but having classes and instructors there to talk you through all the activities keeps you motivated.
“The wide selection of classes and new activities being introduced, like Zumba, hula and flexi-bar classes, encourages you to keep coming back.”
Coventry Sports Foundation is also in the process of introducing a new programme of activities and offers for corporate members.
The offers will range from team building events to reduced price membership for employees of member companies.
