| Modern Apprenticeships |
| |
| Modern Apprenticeship
with Coventry Sports Foundation |
| Catering Apprenticeships now available |
| Are you aged 16-23 and looking for a career in sport? |
| |
| The Leisure and Recreation industry is one which provides a great variety for involvement, whether
on a voluntary basis or as a consideration within the context of developing a career. |
| |
| Within the industry Centre AT7, The Midland Sports Centre and The Alan Higgs Centre are three
unique facilities, not only in that they are operated by a charitable Trust (Coventry Sports
Foundation), but also because they extend beyond the more orthodox parameters of facility
provision, into areas more directly concerned with creating “opportunity” through sport. |
| |
| Consequently all of the Centre’s and the staff associated with the various projects consider the
provision of Modern Apprenticeships to be an integral aspect of providing such opportunity. |
| |
| To ensure the quality of the scheme the Foundation works in partnership with representatives from
Henley College to develop, implement, co-ordinate, monitor and review the scheme. |
| |
| The programme for the Modern Apprentices ensures that individuals are introduced to a variety of
concepts associated with the industry, such as: |
| Coaching |
| Promotional |
| Management |
| Administrative |
| Operational aspects. |
| |
| The Foundation is committed to training and developing all of their employees and as such has
gained the Investors in People accreditation, and proof of this can also be found in the career
history of some of the current managers within the Foundation. |
| |
| Since the Modern Apprenticeship scheme started in September 1997 thirty-five apprentices have
progressed to being employed by the Foundation in roles such as Recreation Attendant /
Lifeguards, Sports Coaches and Fitness Suite Instructors. This therefore has opened up
opportunities for further youngsters to join the scheme. |
