The fantastic NEW £8.75million leisure centre,
has now been built in Canley, and has been named the Xcel Leisure Centre.
The NEW centre will replace the old Midlands Sports Centre in Tile Hill and
will be open from the end of June 2008.
The Centre will boast a state of the art fitness arena, dedicated group exercise room, large function room, 25
metre swimming pool with viewing gallery, health suite (with sauna, steam room, and spa pool), large sports
hall, bar/cafe, crèche, children’s play and party area, community room, and an upstairs balcony area ideal for
socialising on summer days. Externally there will be 3 full size and mini football pitches, a cricket pitch, two
floodlit 5 a-side ‘third generation’ football pitches, a number of floodlit tennis and netball courts, and a
children’s play area. |

| |
| The Centre is being designed with the needs of the local community in mind, with the community room
available for booking by local groups. Facilities can be booked on a pay and play basis, with discounts available
for Passport to Leisure and Priority Card holders, pensioners and students. The external pitches will be
available for hire to local groups and teams who it is hoped will use the Centre as a base. |
| |
|
| The existing Aquarius ‘learn to swim’ programme will be extended, and the ‘Out of School’ programme will
provide local youngsters with fun activities at evenings and during school holidays. |
|
| |
|
| The social side has not been neglected, with the café/bar providing a range of affordable snacks and meals
from early morning, with a special ‘grab and go’ menu for those in a hurry. The Function Room will provide a
welcome local facility for celebrating special occasions, with the Centre’s extensive kitchen being able to cater
for any menu. A special Carvery Menu will be available every Sunday. |
